I read a terrific article in an industry newsletter by Microgrid Knowledge this week that covered four critical errors people make when referring to something as a “microgrid.”
NOT Microgrids:
• Solar + Storage
• Virtual Power Plant (VPP)
• Community Solar
• Distributed energy resources management systems (DERMS)
In short, those four errors share one thing:
They lack a Microgrid Controller that can “island” the facility or house in case of a power outage!
